Project ACTION for men
Men over the age of 50 are less physically active than women within the same age-group. Additionally men utilize health promotion offers less frequently than women and experience higher mortality rates due to chronic diseases compared to women. The project ACTION for men
ACTION for men uses a multilevel-process in two communities (approx.10.000-20.000inhabitants):
- Systematic measure of wants and needs regarding physical activity and sports-related engagement of men 50+
- Development and implementation of contextspecific offers to promote physical activity and exercise among men 500+ using a participatory approach
- a comprehensive process- and outcome-evaluation regarding the participatory Approach, and motivational changes of the target group to be physically active or participate in exercise classes
Target population:
physically inactive Men 50+
Aims:
Implement a model community-based capacity building processes in two Bavarian communities to form sustainable task forces that are comprised of key stakeholders and promote physical activity for men.
Methods:
- Measure subjective and objective wants and needs, as well as barriers of the target population using a questionnaire (pre-post-design), and interviews

The project team will explore different interactive formats meant to (a) strengthen participation of stakeholders from the target group of men 50+ to motivate these stakeholders for development and implementations for physical activity measures
Anticipated results:
- increased community-capacities for physical activity promotion projects
- implement new physical activity measures for the target population
- increased motivation of target population to participate in physical activity offers
